The first time was in 2017 and then we saw them again last year during the big "Bohemian Rhapsody" explosion. For the 2017 pictures I chose this paper from Paper Wishes called Paper Painting. I love the rich colors in these paper collections. This set even has some tags and embellishments to match. Bonus, on the Paper Wishes site they give them away as a free download! Very nice way to get some cool stash.
There's no way I'm going to be able to scrap all these pictures in time. The stack is about 1 inch thick!
I found this crown on my Slice Machine design card called "Just Chillin' Teen."
I had some old gold foil paper and I think it worked great. This was a bit of gift wrap paper from the old days when the kids had to sell wrapping paper as a fund raiser. They used to give a sample swatch of all the different kinds you could buy and I kept them all these years to use in crafting. That paper is probably 25 years old!
I wanted gold numbers to mark the date but didn't have them so I used some silver sparkly ones and colored over them with gold marker. Pleased with that result.
Here's page one. I popped some of the flowers from the freebie sheet on foam dots and added a jewel in between the numbers.
And page two. We stopped at our favorite restaurant, Louisiana Bistro, before the show. James (the owner) was always very friendly and let me take his picture this time. Sadly, they closed down shortly after that. We really miss it! There was a guy sitting near us who worked with a company called "Date Knight." They plan dates for you. Don't know if they are still around either but how fitting that it was date (k)night and a Queen concert!
Here's the setlist from that night. It was a great show.
People may say that because Freddie Mercury has passed and John Deacon no longer tours that is is a cover band but that offends Brian May and Roger Taylor and is definitely not the case as far as I'm concerned. Listen to Another One Bites the Dust from that night.
True, Adam Lambert is no Freddie Mercury and he straight up says as much but the joint was still rocking. That's "Q" for you. No quitting here!
I would have loved to see Freddie Mercury too... Lovely album!
ReplyDeleteQ is for Quilting Longarm
Thanks Frederique! I'm looking forward to finishing this set for sure.
DeleteHi, Janet!
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a good Sunday, dear friend!
I was 99.99% sure you were going to showcase Question Mark & The Mysterians! Just kidding. :) I knew it would be Queen, and I'm sorry to learn that you didn't get to see the iconic rock band when they were still fronted by the brilliant Freddie Mercury. From the look and sound of it, the new touring act Queen + Adam Lambert does an authentic job of performing those famous originals. They certainly do not deserve to be labeled a cover or tribute band. The papers you used to preserve memories of the two Queen shows you attended are gorgeous and rich - fit for a Queen. It's impressive that you were able to transform those glittery silver numbers to gold with your artistry. I'm sorry to learn that your favorite eatery Louisiana Bistro closed shortly after you and hubby dined there prior to the Queen concert. At least you took James' picture and have the selfie and shots of your meal to remember the restaurant and its friendly owner.
I'm happy to know that "Q" doesn't stand for quitting and that you will continue to forge ahead and cross the A to Z finish line at month's end. I will hand you bottles of water in the days ahead to keep you fresh. :)
Thanks again for being a great friend on Saturday, showing support and helping me preserve the memory of my dear old friend Margaret Schneider.
Your visit meant a lot to me. Have a great day and week, dear friend Janet!
Hey, Shady, what kind of friend would I be if I didn't visit your page once in a while! I was happy that the marker worked well over the silver letters because I have a LOT of those so now I know I can color them to match other color schemes. We kept hoping that the Bistro would open up in another part of town but so far it hasn't. It was a great spot to start off our date nights. LOL, I remember Question Mark and the Mysterians for their "96 Tears." Hoping you are well over there!
DeleteWell done. Keep going!
ReplyDeleteThanks Wendy! I'm giving it my best shot.
