Fiddlin' February - 2018

Tell It Color has been a lot of fun.  I've learned some things about colors and how they make me feel.

Today's final prompt is the colors of home.  For the longest time this was the color of home to me:

Of course when we first moved in 21 years ago the paint was a little fresher and there were not as many worn spots.  We always told people to look for the mint chocolate chip colored house when we were describing it.

Last year we redid the outside and the roof and now it looks like this:

I am happy that we have a new roof and siding but truthfully I'm not a fan of the color, or lack thereof.

This is what I want:

or this:

I suppose that's going a little too far so maybe I'll just have to get some of these:

to put in pots.  I'll get the ones from Michaels that are not real so I don't have to worry about doing yard work, of which I am not a fan.  Do you think that would work to brighten things up a bit?

Of course I could paint butterflies all over the house:

but that kind of defeats the purpose of putting up siding that needs no upkeep.  Guess the flowers in pots will have to do.

What about you?  Love the color of your house?  Could you live across the street from a house painted like that?  Tell me!

Tell It Color -

I see I haven't posted a couple of days of colors so here is what you missed:

Day 11 - What colors draw you to them to make a color palette.  What colors make you happy.  I found this skein of yarn at work.  These colors are a great springboard for me.

So this is what I did in my journal for it.

Day 12 was putting colors in other things we do.  These are some card toppers I colored.  I'll cut them out and make cards with them.

And today (Day 13) is the color purple.  Most of the time I associate purple with sadness as in sympathy cards and things like that.  Maybe it is because it is Lent now so there is purple in church everywhere.  Since I have the advantage of working at Michaels, I took a stroll around the store to see where I could find some purple:

Flowers

Ribbon

pompoms

buttons

yarn

I also have this purple on my desk all the time:

And here are some of the pages I did in our concert scrapbook of the Prince concert we saw.

I also associate purple with wealth and royalty.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.  How about you?  What colors make you happy.  Do you try to bring color in your life?  Love purple?  Prince fan?  Share!

Tell it Color, Day 10 -- Earth

A couple of years ago we took a helicopter ride into the Grand Canyon.  Talk about Earth's majesty.  My pictures don't do it justice but it was very impressive.

In the midst of the dirt and rocks a cactus grows.

We are at a picnic lunch in the Grand Canyon.  He is my rock.   Almost looks like we are sitting in front of a painting huh?

These are the hills in Nevada on the way home from Reno.  I love the different colors.

My quiet little bit of peace on earth.
From our rental at Boulder Creek last year.  Such a nice place to sit and be one with nature.

My journal entry for today:

What speaks of the earth to you?  Ever been to the Grand Canyon?  Got a favorite spot to read and commune with nature?  Share!

Tell It Color - Days 8 and 9

Yesterday's prompt was to talk about the colors inside me.  Right now there is a lot going on in my/our lives.  We are beginning another transition period with me trying to balance running my transcription business, working at Michaels, doing my crafty bit, spending time with the hubs and all the usual stuff that goes along with day to day life.  Also, we have our daughter graduating in May this year from college (YAY) and moving back home.

I recently picked up two new stamp pads from Michaels that I fell in love with and I decided to use them to try to convey what I'm feeling at the moment.  Along with some pictures I used from a magazine, this is what I came up with:

The color inside me, orange, pink, blue, green, heart,

I love how it came out.  Perfect, no way, but it is something that I think captures my inner emotions.  The butterflies signify change.  The flowers make me think of dandelions and my wish to follow my dreams.  The oranges and pinks are uplifting and exciting while the blues and greens are my inner reflections and hopefully calm amid chaos.

Day 9's prompt is Yellow and I did answer that one the other day when I talked about my yellow room.

I do have some more pictures of the color yellow though:

Good way to get the day going.

My collection of Nancy Drew books

The plate that used to hang on the wall of our kitchen when I was growing up.  Wrote a bit about that here

Tulip

A cake I made for the kids' birthday.  Since their birthdays are in the summer I had a combined party and called it also a "Back to School" treasure hunt.

A daffodil - the flower of my birthday month

That's a little more yellow for you.  What are the colors inside you now?

Tell It Color - Night

We all know my fetish with the moon and the pictures I take of the full moon each month.  Here are some other gems, including a short video of the Pacific Ocean waves crashing against the bank which combines yesterday's water with today's night.

Of course the moon

And the sunset

A golf ball used to play night golfing - yes, there is such a thing.

It was a cloudy night

The walkway to our house at Christmas

The Excalibur Hotel in Vegas
Fireworks in front of our house on the 4th of July

The lights from cellphones at a concert

The colorful reflection of our friend's pool

More fireworks

I was lucky to catch the colors in this one

At the Adele concert

Through our bedroom window.

Ah that moon

The train from across the street

Rare moon and Venus sighting

Over the streets of San Francisco

The tree lights at ATT&T Park where the Giants play
Tonight

The sunset

The lights on the Bay Bridge.  They are fun to watch because they change.

As seen from my car on the way home.

And the 20 seconds or so of the waves.

I don't know why I never knew this but I just learned what my Pisces constellation looks like:

Night is exciting.  Night is mysterious.  Night is sexy.  Night is wondrous.  Night is adventure.

That's night to me.  What's night to you?
