June in Janet's World - Song Lyric Sunday - Who, What, When, Where

Jim Adams has chosen the good reporter's questions, Who, What, When, Where, Why and How as our theme for today.  So many possibilities!

This reminds me of when we were raising the kids.  If they wanted to go somewhere with their friends, we always told them not to bother asking us if they couldn't answer the questions:  Who were they going with?   What were they going to do?    When were they going to be home?  Where were they going?  How were they getting there?  The Why was kind of obvious - to get away from their parents who asked too many questions - LOL.

I wanted to use a song by Adele off her "25" album, "Why Do You Love Me?" but it seems there is no video for it.  It was a bonus track on that album, available only if you bought it from Target.  It is a really catchy tune and if you get a chance you should try and have a listen somewhere.

So I decided to go with "Where Or When" written by Rogers and Hart, as sung by Rod Stewart on his "As Time Goes By" album.  He did a series of oldies called "The Great American Songbook" and this is on Volume II.  Quite a departure from his normal rock.  We've seen Rod a couple of times and I always have to check the setlist before my husband will go because this style is not his cup of tea.

Where or When
It seems we stood and talked like this before
We looked at each other in the same way then
But I can't remember where or when
The clothes you're wearing are the clothes you wore
The smile you are smiling you were smiling then
But I can't remember where or when
Some things that happened for the first time
Seem to be happening again
And so it seems that we have met before
And laughed before, and loved before
But who knows where or when
Some things that happened for the first time
Seem to be happening again
And so it seems that we have met before
And laughed before, and loved before
But who knows where or when
Who knows where or when

From a show my daughter and I saw in 2009:

From the "Heart and Soul" tour he did with Stevie Nicks in 2011.

His autobiography is pretty interesting too.  He spent a lot of time on his hair!

That's all I got for today.  Make sure to check out some of the other #SLS gang.  Pretty great songs out there.  Happy last day of June.  What am I gonna call the blog next month?

June in Janet's World - Stream of Consciousness Saturday

Today's prompt from Linda is for/fore/four.  We get bonus points if we can use all of them.  Let's see what I can manage...

FOR the last 22 years every September we have been going to Boulder Creek, California for a golf tournament that my husband and his friend started.  I can easily remember how long it has been since our daughter was born the year before and she will be 23 in November.  Of course being the scrapbooker that I am, every year has been well documented.

The first year of the tournament.  Rachel was 10 months old.

Hopefully you don't hear "Fore" too many times while hubby is swinging.  That's not a good shot!

I have not gotten to last years layouts yet, but I still have a few months.

There are now four books filled with our adventures.

I think I get my bonus points!   Have a wonderful Saturday!

June in Janet's World - Song Lyric Sunday - Winning

Jim has given us a nice topic this week, cards/dice/gamble/lose/win.  I had used Kenny Rogers' The Gambler a while back so I searched for something different and came up with The Outfield, Winning It All.

Winning It All
I'm closing up, I'm closing in
Couldn't wait for this moment to come
Couldn't wait for this day to begin
Won't be afraid, got so much pride
And I've never been a loser
And I just can't lose tonight
Winning it all, ain't gonna walk away
Giving it all, no matter what you say
Ain't gonna fall, don't want to lose today
Winning it all
This time it's right, my time has come
Gonna give everything that I've got
Till it's over and victory's won
No second chance, no giving up
Because no one remembers a loser
And I don't intend to be one

I like the lyrics in the last verse.  "The time is right, my time has come.  Gonna give everything that I've got..."  There are some things in my life going on now that these words really inspire me to complete.  Hopefully I'll come out a winner!

Hope you have a great Sunday.  Happy listening to all the other #SLS offerings!

June in Janet's World - #SoCS - Escapist Coloring Club

Hey all!  We've transitioned to summer.  I love the warm weather but ours has been in the 80's and 90's which is too hot for my poor hubby.  We got an evaporation fan but of course as soon as we did the temperatures dropped.  Go figure.

The prompt for today's Stream of Consciousness Saturday is "leaves."  Before June "leaves" us, I thought I should post my entries to the Escapist Coloring Club.    Linda, whatever would I blog about if you weren't so good at organizing these?

Most of the time I use markers to color with.  Sometimes I outline first with the markers and then color the inside with colored pencils.  For these two I used metallic gel pens.  I have to be careful to let the ink dry before putting my hand over that part or the ink gets all over and smudges.  The pictures don't show it well but they have a metallic sheen to them.

Lots of "leaves" in all my coloring.  I like to two-tone them too.  I'm making these to use as backgrounds in cards and things.  I am getting quite a collection though so maybe I better stop coloring and do some card making!  Happy Saturday all.

June in Janet's World - Stream of Consciousness Saturday

Today's prompt from the lovely Linda is "social."  I am definitely going to be social tonight as we are going to our favorite Mountain Winery to see Foreigner!  We have tickets in the second row, so maybe we'll have another up close and personal experience.  Cross your fingers!

Stop by and check out the other #SoCS participants and see how they are being social today.

June in Janet's World - Song Lyric Sunday - Desire

I haven't written in a week!  That won't do.  Have I been busy?  I don't think so.  At least no busier than usual.  Perhaps lazy is the word?  Shameful.  I'll have to rectify that.  Anyway, this week the prompt from Jim is Desire/Lust/Romance/Passion.  Quite a risky - risque' topic!  I'm choosing one from Kenny Rogers called Morning Desire.

Morning Desire
Here it is seven in the a.m.
It's gonna take more then wakin' to rise me
I wake up with this need again
But feel the love of the woman beside me
It's just one of those days
When I wanna lay here with her
And love her before I leave
And listen to the rain fall on the roof
And the thunder sounds like horses hooves
Oh, I listen to her breathe
And it makes me wanna wake her up
And tell her that I'm on fire
With morning desire
It looks like I'm gonna be late again
And I gonna give up and get movin' and I'm tryin'
But the longer I keep stalling
The more I think about callin' in and lying
It's just one of those days
When I wanna stay here with her
And watch her while she sleeps
And listen to the rain fall on the roof
And the thunder sounds like horses hooves
Oh, I listen to her breathe
And it makes me wanna wake her up
And tell her that I'm on fire
With morning desire
Well, I love to hear the rain fallin' on the roof
And the thunder sounds like horses hooves
Oh, I listen to her breathe
And it makes me wanna wake her up
And tell her that I'm on fire
With morning desire, with morning desire
Listen to the rain
Listen to the rain
Listen to the rain

Short and sweet today.  It is roasting hot here (88 degrees) so I think I'll go spend some time in my cool studio watching the Giants and crafting away.  Happy Listening!

June in Janet's World - #SLS - Song Lyric Sunday - Melrose Avenue

Jim, who has been doing a great job since taking over from Helen with hosting our Song Lyric Sunday fun fest has given us the prompt Avenue/Boulevard/Drive/Lane/Road/Street for today.

I'm gonna choose Scorpions and "Melrose Avenue."

Melrose Avenue
I didn't know that I was waiting all this time for you
On Melrose Avenue
A Sunday afternoon
I saw you
With you I can fly to the moon
For never come back anytime soon
But the soft of dawn and the I really want
Let the sunshine light on you
The California's sky so blue
You drive me crazy
And there's no girl like you, like you
On Melrose Avenue
It had to resign
The changing of the lights
And I knew
That I take what I could get
And you're living where call vet
When you do
For you I will do anything
I'll write you a song on my old six string
We could go to Vegas
And I buy you a ring
Let the sunshine light on you
The California's sky so blue
You drive me crazy
And there's no girl like you
(There' no girl like you) like you
On Melrose Avenue
Let the sunshine light on you
The California's sky so blue
You drive me crazy
And there's no girl like you
(There is no girl like you) like you
On Melrose Avenue
Let the sun shine light on you
(On Melrose Avenue)
The California's sky so blue
You really turn me up
And there is no girl like you
(There is no girl like you) like you
On Melrose Avenue
On Melrose Avenue
