Just Jot January – 2022

Combination post for #JusJoJan and #SoCS as curated by our hostess, Linda G. Hill. Thanks so much, Linda, for continuing this project. We know it is a lot of work and I, for one, appreciate it.

The word for today is “Resolve.” My resolve is to get the vision cards made by the end of the weekend. I’m using the same themes as last year: home, finances, craft business, adventure, health, connection. Of course I’m going to call them something different because that’s what I do.

I’m also making the resolve to pay for the upgrade on WP. I realize that I want to be able to post more pictures and what will I do when the A to Z comes up in April without more room?

And I’m going to continue with the 1 Second Every Day app. It is fun to look back over the year and see the snippets of what was happening. I’m putting it on YouTube as I’m typing so you can click here to see my 2021.

One other “challenge” that is happening this month is a WP one called #Bloganuary. The prompt for today is to write a letter to our teenage selves. I remember so well thinking that I would never be married since I had no boyfriends during high school and was not really one of the popular kids. Mostly I went to school and then went to work at the library. I would tell that girl to be patient and that things would work out for the best. I would explain that she is an introvert and that while meeting people and feeling comfortable in crowds would not come easy, it’s not impossible to have the life you dream of.

And I resolve to read 40 books this year. I didn’t quite make that total in 2021, hitting 35. I am using the Popsugar challenge as usual and keeping track on Goodreads. I’m Scr4pl80 (Scrap Lady) there as I am most places on the interwebs so look for me! I wish everyone a most wonderful New Year, full of an abundance (my word of the year) of joy, peace and friendship.

  1. I'm not making many resolutions either but I have set my reading challenge on Goodreads to 70 books this year. I managed 72 in 2020 and 67 in 2021 but both times my target was 52. I think I need to push myself a bit this year. Happy New Year Janet.

    1. That's a lot of reading! I usually read before bed and unless the book is really interesting or I'm close to the end, one chapter is usually all I can manage each night.

  2. Hi, Janet!

Happy 2022 to you, dear friend! I hope you had a delightful celebration out there on the west coast. Did my buddy Benny dance a jig at midnight? I hope he wasn't spooked by the noisy fireworks like our cat Boots was.

Seems like you have a lot in the works on day one of the year, including nearing completion on your new crop of Vision Cards, WP upgrade, and resolving to continue the One Second Every Day video diary. It's an awesome concept and a surreal experience watching the entire year flash by in 9 minutes. Highlights and lowlights of your year included the sun innocently rising on January 6 with the caption "Good morning world" followed by the ugly January 7 news headlines about the Trump mob attacking the Capitol, the graph showing a spike in your blog views during the April A to Z, walking Benny, getting your shot and the holiday decorations.

I also like the idea of writing a letter to your teenage self. It is bound to be good therapy. I happen to like and appreciate introverted people. If you were introverted during your youth, it served you, and you have blossomed into a charming, outgoing, enterprising businesswoman operating an Etsy shop, doing tutorials on your own YouTube channel and much more. If you manage to read 40 books this year, it will be sweet icing on an already impressive cake.

Janet, I share your wishes for a year in which we come from abundance rather than scarcity, and hopes for joy, peace and friendship. Once again, happy new year to you, dear friend!

    1. Hey there Shady! Looking back over the year in this way is pretty cool. I even forget sometimes what I captured. I save each month separately on my phone just in case but then delete them when I get the year end final. Interesting that you would mention Benny and the noise. We did have a couple of loud booms quite close to our house and it did frighten him for much of the night but hubby held him close under a blanket next to him and he calmed down. It is freezing here today, 39 degrees and frost on the ground. Stay safe my friend. Thanks for visiting me :)
