Janet in January - 20117

January 5

Day 4 of the 365 pictures was "Animal"

This is our cat, which my husband calls "Puppy," because in the beginning she followed him everywhere.  Now, not so much because he has been traveling a lot lately.  She is sitting in one of her favorite spots watching out the window.  (It's raining, our windows aren't THAT dirty).  This was the day he was supposed to come home from his most recent trip to Oregon.  Wonder if she knew.  She is mostly a standoffish kind of cat and really only comes around when she wants food or to go out, although she does sleep on our bed some nights.  Best kind of cat for a person who is not that fond of animals.

Day 5 - A favorite thing:

One of my favorite things is to turn my iTunes on shuffle and put the visualizer on while I am working in my craft room.  Tons of subliminal inspiration here, both from the music - which can at any moment be anything from Dean Martin to Prince and also from the different patterns on the screen.

Thought this was a pretty cool one.  I do have to be careful not to get caught up in it.  Good thing I don't do drugs - I'd never get anything done!

How about you?  It's the 5th day of the new year.  Keeping up with your goals?

Janet in January - 2017

January 3 -

Day 2 of my picture a day was following the prompt delicious:

I'm continuing to follow the Hungry Girl eating plan and this was my dinner.  Chicken and veggies on top of lettuce.  Not many calories but plenty filling.

Day 3 is circle:

This is my collection of washi tape.  I think I am addicted.  Between that and paper...Anyway, lots of circles!

This is the album I have picked to hold my pictures for this project.  I love the cover (a Van Gogh) and the size of it:

and that's Janet in January, so far.

Janet in January - 2017

January 1 - Happy New Year!  2017 is going to be a great year.  I believe it.

I'm starting the year off with some specific goals.  First is the 365 picture project.  I did one in 2013 and I was looking through the book I made recently and decided that I'd like to try it again.  In addition, I was guided to a site called Fatmumslim - isn't that a great name?  Since one of my goals is also to lose more weight this year, of course I had to check it out!  Anyway, Chantelle gives a month of prompts for your pictures.  While I may not follow each prompt, they will certainly come in handy for the days when I get stuck for a picture, which is one of the things that happened when I did it in 2013.  Also, I got two new journals to keep the pictures in because one of the other things that bothered me when I did it the first time was that the journal I got to hold the pictures got too thick.  I finished it but it bothered me and I noticed I stopped adding embellishments and printed the pictures on regular paper instead of photo paper.  This year I'll be able to keep half a year in each album and it should work out better.

Here are the prompts for January:

And here is my first photo:

Yellow used to be my favorite color but in the last few years I have been more drawn to the color orange.

Also following along with Ali Edwards and her One Little Word course throughout the year where we take our word of the year and keep it alive in our actions through the year.  Here is one way I keep it:

What about you?  Resolutions, goals, projects?  Love to hear about them!

December Reflections - 2016

December 31 - My Word for 2017

For the past three years I've chosen a "word" to help guide me through the year.  That's when I started doing the vision cards (thanks Jamie Ridler) as well.  The first year it was "Change."  The next year it was "Courage."  This year was "Focus."

I wrote about these cards here and wore the word in a locket around my neck most days:

Vision Cards
The locket with my word
For this year, I have made these cards:

and have chosen the word "Believe" as my guiding word for the year.

I'm not a fan of Josh Groban but these words from the song "Believe" in the movie "The Polar Express" seem to fit what I am trying to embody this year.

Believe in what your heart is saying
Hear the melody that's playing
There's no time to waste
There's so much to celebrate
Believe in what you feel inside
And give your dreams the wings to fly
You have everything you need
If you just believe.

I'll write another message on a slip of paper and keep it in the locket to remind me to believe in myself and my goals.

And so we've come to the end of another year.  Hope yours was a good one, and if not, that 2017 holds magic and wonder for you.  Happy New Year!

December Reflections 2016

December 28 - Quiet Moment

Posted this on instagram but thought I may as well include it here too.  Taking a moment to have a cup of tea and start filling in my 2017 planner.  I've got big plans :)

December 29 - My Wish for 2017

Normalcy.  We've had a pretty unusual year and a half with lots of home improvements...

which mean workmen around the house and medical issues for the hubs which meant hospital stays and doctor visits...

not to mention all the traveling he did to Oregon to be with his mom.  I wish in 2017 that we can settle back into a bit more structured routine, learn to adjust to the changes and get the inside of our house back in order.

I'm hoping that our nation can live through the turbulence that has taken place with our recent election and that God will help guide our leaders.  That's my wish for 2017.

December 30 - Thank you for...

Thank you, God, for keeping us safe another year.  Thank you to my friends and followers for reading and commenting on my little blog posts.

One more day to go in 2016.  I'm ready for 2017.  How about you?

I think I'm gonna try this one again too, but I'm going to see if I can capture it from different spots.  I love the one I got this month, with the tree in view.  I have to thank my husband for that one because he told me to go look at it and I couldn't see it from my usual spot on the back porch so I had to go to the front of the house.  I think the ones with the clouds around them are pretty cool too.

Did you see all the full moons this year?  Make any wishes?

I may try that again this year, we'll see.  I'm planning on doing another 365 pictures project so if I include selfies, that makes 12 pictures done :)

How about you?  Any plans for year-long projects?  Love to hear about it!
