Blogging From A to Z - 2018 - W is for

Welcome to the letter W in the A to Z Challenge for 2018.  I am making my way through the alphabet as seen in Michaels Arts and Crafts.  Today is W for Wedding and my favorite, Washi Tape.

First is weddings.  Michaels has a pretty good selection of do-it-yourself wedding ideas.

Beginning with the Save the Date notifications

and the invitations.

Celebrate it is the brand for a lot of these things.  They even have fancy seals and sealing wax to prettify the invites.

There are fun things for the bridesmaids and the pre-wedding parties.

We don't have wedding dresses but the garter and tiara can be found.  David Tutera is the brand for these things.  I am not planning any weddings so I am not sure if he is a special maker or not.

The flower girl's basket is there as well as the ring bearer's pillow.

Cake cutting tools as well as props for picture taking and other decorations.

Candles and other things to make the day special.

Bubbles to blow

And finally, the thank you cards.

I can't see spending a ton of money on something that I can do myself.  If I was planning a wedding, I would try to do as much as I could to make it simple and easy.  After all, it's not supposed to be about the things, it's supposed to be about the love, right?

Speaking of love, the next W is for Washi tape.  Washi tape, for those who may not know, is decorative tape that you can use in all different kinds of ways.  They come in all different colors and styles and themes.

Some have words on them and some are just plain.

This was a huge sale as these tubes normally are $15!  Plus my employee discount - SCORE!

As you can see, this is another thing that Michaels has a large selection of.

Ummm, this is my collection.  I'm not sure how many I have (I'm afraid to count), but these rolls cover my table top which is about 3 feet by 2 feet.  I think I'm in love with washi.

I use these in my scrapbooking projects and to decorate the envelopes that coordinate with the cards I make, to name a few things but there are books on the subject of Washi tape and what you can do with it.

Have I covered weddings and washi tape enough for you?  Are you surprised by the amount of things you can get at Michaels?  3 letters left.  Make sure to stop by the other W participants and come back tomorrow for X!

(Note:  I decided I should add a disclaimer to these posts because I certainly don't want to give the idea that I am being paid by Michaels to do this or that they are furnishing me with material.  All pictures used in this blog series were taken by me at local Michaels stores, or are my personal pictures and every Michaels store may not have everything shown.)

Janet in January - 2017

January 3 -

Day 2 of my picture a day was following the prompt delicious:

I'm continuing to follow the Hungry Girl eating plan and this was my dinner.  Chicken and veggies on top of lettuce.  Not many calories but plenty filling.

Day 3 is circle:

This is my collection of washi tape.  I think I am addicted.  Between that and paper...Anyway, lots of circles!

This is the album I have picked to hold my pictures for this project.  I love the cover (a Van Gogh) and the size of it:

and that's Janet in January, so far.

Amazing August

August is quickly coming to a close!  Can't believe it is the 28th already.

For my August Break photos, here's what I've been submitting:

8/21 - Today is...a good day for cleaning out my drawers.  Got rid of one bag full of clothes I no longer wear.

August 22 - Squares - Keeping my mind sharp.

August 23 - My face
August 24 - Three - My three children - all grown up now!
August 25 - Oranges...I'm a washi tape addict.

August 26 - Peaceful.  This is where we were married 32 years ago, Vista Point at Zephyr Cove, Nevada.
August 27 - Little.  I love this little guy my husband picked up on one of our walks.

August 28 - I am...in my happy place when I'm in this room!

Just three more days left in this month.  Even though I haven't done a separate blog post for each prompt, I am happy I have been able to at least find a picture a day.

Happy Sunday all!

Fleeting February - 2016

February 22 -- Where has the month gone?  I guess guess I've been having too much fun to stop and play here this month.  Actually, I have had a little increase in some aspects of my work and my hubby has been out of town so I have taken the opportunity to do a little house cleaning.  Not just the usual dusting and vacuuming, although that is getting done too, I'm talking about big, all-out let's get rid of some stuff kind of cleaning.

I'm not totally done yet but this is a good start.  Now that the kids are all grown, I really don't think we need to keep ALL those extra blankets and towels.  Some books and other stuff too.  Feels so good to see some empty space on the shelves.  I did find a treasure though, that's found a new home in my craft room:

That leads me to Valentine's Day, which I spent by myself but I did get some flowers by accident and I used them to take my February selfie.  A mistake by the florist (or actually a generous gesture) because these flowers were supposed to go to my daughter.  She got a bouquet as well so win/win!  Bill and I can go out for a special dinner when he gets home.  Besides, he shows me he loves me all year through, not just on one day in February!

And, I have been busy in my craft room too, organizing and making an inventory binder so I stop buying extras and things I don't need!  (Sorry, niece Donna - she's been getting the benefits of my doubles).

Washi tape

Wooden stamps
I have different sections for my punches, pens, inks, paints and sprays, stencils, etc. and a section for ideas.  I even have a section called "Where is it?" so that I can keep track of most of it! Man I have a lot of stuff!

I also started a new project, something that I've had around the house for maybe 15 years or more.  I'm surprised it hasn't disintegrated!

It's an Eeyore latch hook rug and I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do with it when I'm done but I wanted to make it instead of get rid of it.

And that brings us up to tonight, the full moon.  It's called the "Snow Moon" or sometimes the "Hunger Moon" but I'm not hungry and we're not having snow so it's just a full moon for me.  There does seem to be a little haze around it (or at least when I took the picture it did).

So, between all of that and binge watching Downton Abbey, which is not a program Bill would enjoy and one that I missed watching when it first started, I guess that's why there haven't been posts here.  I've done a couple of quick picture posts on Instagram.  We have an extra day in February this year and I plan to make the most of it.

How about you?  What have you been up to this month?  I'd love to hear about it!
