Muddling Through March – 2022 – A to Z Theme Reveal

It is time once again for the A to Z Blogging Challenge Theme Reveal! For those of you who haven’t traveled through the alphabet with me before, this is your chance. Beginning Friday April 1 and ending Saturday April 30 (with the exception of Sundays) I, along with hundreds of other bloggers, will be filling the universe (well internet) with our own takes on what the letters A to Z can mean.

This will be my 7th year and my themes so far have been music, scrapbooking concerts (twice), the A to Z of Michaels Arts and Crafts store, scrapbooking in general and last year I did the A to Z of San Francisco. I was struggling to come up with an idea for this year. While I love doing the scrapbooking of my concerts, I wasn’t sure I could get another alphabet’s worth of different artists and even if I could stretch it using song titles, I knew I didn’t have the time to scrapbook 26 more shows before April. I haven’t been driving to San Francisco routinely and I think I pretty much got all of the main sites last year anyway. I’m not working outside the house (yet) so I have no interesting stores to take you through. What’s a girl to do? Google it of course!

So I Googled “A to Z” and several possibilities came up but the one I settled on is “The A to Z of Dating.” Even though the hubby and I have been married for 37 years (38 in May), I still believe in date nights. When we first got married, before the kids came along, I told him that it was important to me that we not lose sight of why we got together in the first place. Of course with the kids and life circumstances (work, health issues, lack of funds, a pandemic – you get the idea) it was not always easy to get some time to ourselves and there were many years when dating just wasn’t happening.

But, with this A to Z challenge I’m going to try and show some things that you can do for a date night that don’t necessarily cost much money or take a lot of time. I’ll be going through our old photos to relive some of those early dates (which could be a date in itself!) and hopefully we can go on a couple of new experiences that I can write about during the month ahead. I’m looking forward to exploring this topic and hope that you’ll enjoy it too. Got any ideas for those tricky months like Q, X, Y, Z? Will you be doing the A to Z this year?

  1. Quiet time at home during Covid! Youth. X-rays that you both had to have. Going to the zoo. I love your theme and the pictures you posted here. They are so lovable. Who is the person resting on the big letter? Someone you know or just a person who ended up in your photo?

    1. LOL Birgit, yes, just a bum that ended up in the photo. If I had known he was there I'd have moved to a different letter.

  2. Hi Janet!

I think you arrived at a very interesting theme, dear friend! If anyone can come up with 30 different topics related to dating, it would be you and your hubby, because you guys do more things together than any other couple I know. Yessum, it's true that the pandemic threw a wrench into your rhythm, but when you look back through the years, you and your special guy have gone on so many interesting dates that your greatest challenge will be narrowing the field down to only 30. I am eager to review the highlights of your dating history. Yessum, now that restrictions are easing and you guys are once again getting out and about, there's a good chance you will be able to wing in some new adventures as we wind our way through April. As far as those difficult letters, Q, X, Y AND Z, if I were doing the challenge I'd try to think of a date or a place we went where we needed to be very "Quiet." For "X" I would think of an interesting place we went and show a map where "X" marks the spot, or where we had "X-tra fun." For "Y," I'd think of something we did when we were very Young and just starting out as a couple, and for "Z" you could always think of the stylized "ZZZZZ" meaning to sleep, and tell about the time you fell asleep in the middle of a date or slept at an interesting place like an historic hotel. Those are just some thoughts that came to me.

Typically, I do not participate in blog hops and challenges because they do not fit my blogging style and my plans for Shady's Place, but I am happy to support the participation of loyal friends like you. Congratulations on accepting the challenge for the 7th year. Have a wonderful week, dear friend Janet!

    1. Oh, Shady, what good ideas. The X-rays one is classic! I'm writing those suggestions down for sure. Looking at old photos will be a fun one I'm sure. Hope I can make it through, I'm not as prepared as I usually am. I have your blog open now, had to go drop our tax papers off this morning so I'm a bit behind. Have a wonderful rest of your week.

  6. Glad you'll be back in the Challenge for another great year. Sounds like a good theme as you've laid it out. My wife and I have an almost nightly "date" routine set for us. Most nights at 6:30 we meet in front of our living room TV and watch a movie. Usually they're older movies from TCM but we'll also watch newer ones if we have access to them on one of our regular channels. I record them as I see them coming so we always have a lot from which to choose.

We also try to go out to eat at least once a week, but that is getting so expensive now. So is taking our day trips that we used to do regularly. Staying home is an economical option that we both enjoy a great deal.

    Have a great April!
