Mainly in March - 2019 - Song Lyric Sunday

Our prompt for #SLS is school/books/learning.  I tried to pick a different song this week.  Gonna make the post short cos I'm still moving into my new studio but thought I'd take a quick break.   Photo update on the studio coming soon!

From Lifehouse:

Learn You Inside Out
Sit my feet on the ground
It feels like the world's gravity drowns
When I'm with you I'm high
Instead of hiding my face
My minds in your eyes
Can your love embrace me as I am?
In the silence you stare at the world
Your eyes are screaming to be heard
I wanna learn you inside out
When time is not on my side
All we have is now
For the rest of our lives
Let's stay up all night
In the silence you stare at the world
Your eyes are screaming to be heard
I wanna learn you inside out
All the changes each time
Can't keep you inside of me
You're out of my mind
I wear you on my sleeve
I see all that you want to be
Into your soul looking right back at me
I wanna learn you inside out

"Hanging By A Moment" is another one of my favorites.  Hope you have a happy rest of your Sunday!  Wish me luck with my moving process :)

Mainly in March - 2019 - Song Lyric Sunday - Animals

I am not a fan of the spring forward time change and definitely don't like it on my birthday!

Today's prompt for the #SLS is animal - thanks Jim - and I'm going with the song "Raised By Wolves" by U2.  This was on the Songs of Innocence album which was released by Apple for free to everyone who had iTunes.  I remember at the time there was some controversy about this because there were people who said they didn't like U2 and didn't want to be "forced" to listen to it or have it take up space on their devices or whatever.  For me, while I have liked a few U2 songs, I'm not a big fan but I took a listen since it was free and I really liked some of the songs.  This is one of them.

Raised by Wolves
Face down on a broken street
There’s a man in the corner
In a pool of misery
I’m in white van
As a red sea covers the ground
Metal crash
I can’t tell what it is
But I take a look
And now I’m sorry I did
5:30 on a Friday night
Thirty three good people cut down
I don’t believe anymore
I don’t believe anymore
Face down on a pillow of shame
There are some girls with a needle
Tryin’ to spell my name
My body’s not a canvas
My body’s now a toilet wall
I don’t believe anymore
I don’t believe anymore
Raised by wolves
Stronger than fear
Raised by wolves
We were raised by wolves
Raised by wolves
Stronger than fear
If I open my eyes
You disappear
Running wild
Running wild
Boy sees his father
Crushed under the weight
Of a cross in a passion
Where the passion is hate
Blue mink Ford
I’m gonna detonate in your den
Blood in the house
Blood on the street
The worst things in the world
Are justified by belief
Registration 1385-WZ
I don’t believe anymore
I don’t believe anymore
Raised by wolves
Stronger than fear
Raised by wolves
We were raised by wolves
Raised by wolves
Stronger than fear
If I open my eyes
You disappear
Running wild

This is a pretty cool video.

We haven't seen U2 in concert but I hear they put on a spectacular show.

And that's your Song Lyric Sunday for March 10.  I'm hoping to get some more things moved into the new studio today.  Hopefully the rain will stay away for a while.

Mainly in March - 2019 - #SoCS - Abash, A Bash, Bash

Linda's prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is "Abash/a bash/bash" with bonus prompts for using all three.

Went to my very first hockey game the other night.  Our daughter was really hoping to see a bash brawl break out but there was no such thing.  Only one penalty too.  Pretty calm game from what I understand.  At least our home team, The Sharks, won!

We had pretty good seats too.

Looks like the shark is eating the Canadian flag, doesn't it?

I think my daughter has the hockey bug as she is at another game today.  Maybe a bash will occur for her this time.

I am not abashed to admit that tomorrow is my 64th birthday.  I think I've held up pretty well for 64 and apparently I only have 9 months to go until I can apply for Medicare!  I'm not having a bash to celebrate, I just want the rain to hold up for a while so I can start moving my things into the new studio.  Rain and paper products do not play well together.

The 13th of March is my dad's birthday.  I say I was his birthday present because my mom and I got to come home from the hospital on that day.  He would be 106 if he were alive.  His real name was Italo but everyone called him Bash.  A couple of different stories about that.  One is that he was bashful but given that he was a prankster, I'm not sure that was true.  I'm pretty confident that he wanted you to think the B.S. on his shirt stood for bulls-1t and not Bash Stagnaro!  The other theory is that when he was younger he and his friends used to bash their stomachs together.  His stomach did stick out a bit but there's a lot of people out there with big stomachs who did not bash them with their friends.

Okay I think I used all three words.  Time to go get carpet put in the studio!  Have a pleasant Saturday!

Mainly in March - #SLS - Song Lyric Sunday - Occupation

Sorry to hear that Helen is still not feeling well and has decided to give up the Song Lyric Sunday theme for good.  Hoping she gets better soon and back to blogging in whatever way she chooses.  Thanks to Jim for continuing the challenge.  I know it probably isn't easy but he's doing a great job and I like having the prompts for the month laid out so that I can plan ahead.  It will be particularly helpful once the A to Z starts next month!

Today's prompt is "Occupation" and there have already been a lot of great choices out there.  I went looking for something that was a little different and came up with this from Kenny Rogers.  Country is not my number one genre but Kenny has given us some good ones.  Lyrics in the video.

I don't play cards because to me there's too much thinking involved and when I gamble, I do it for fun.  We love to go to Reno and have taken a few day trips to local casinos.  I've never been a huge winner, although I did win $1000 once.  I just love to hear the bells go off.  Here's one of my good ones.

One of the last times we went to Reno we made friends with an employee at the Silver Legacy.  His name is Doc Cheatham.  He gives directions, answers questions and does card and magic tricks in the lobby.  He is really good and took the time to talk to us about how he got started and showed us a few secrets to the tricks he does - which I don't remember so don't ask me how they're done!  He reminds me of The Gambler.  If you get to the Silver Legacy you should really stop and check him out.

And there's your Song Lyric Sunday for today.  Check out the other participants and play along if you can think of a song with an occupation we may have missed!

Mainly in March - Escapist Coloring Club

Coloring is comfort for me.  The Giants are starting to be televised and I've been watching some movies with the hubs so I've gotten quite a bit of coloring done.  I was using the Alice in Wonderland book but I switched it up and tried my hand at some Harry Potter.

Playing along with Linda G. Hill and the Escapist Coloring Club.  You can too!

Mainly in March 2019 - #AtoZChallenge Sign Ups

Oh My Goodness!  It is time to sign up again for the A to Z challenge!  This is the 10th year of the challenge itself, started by Mr. Arlee Bird.  I participated for the first time in 2016 where my theme was music.  In 2017 the theme was still music but I showed examples of my scrapbooking, using the concerts we have been to.   Last year I took you through the A to Z of Michael's Arts and Crafts store.

I am not as prepared as I was last year although I do have some idea of what I'm going to use as my focus.  The actual theme reveal comes on March 18.  It is amazing to see all the different topics people come up with.  You can write about anything you'd like, as long as it follows the alphabet.

I know that there were some who did not participate last year because there was a "new" format but really it wasn't that different in my opinion.  The biggest change was having a master list and adding your posts to a Facebook page.  I found it all very easy to navigate and the co-hosts were always ready to help if there was a problem.  They even had a contest for a guest post on the main Challenge site and I was one of the winners!  You can read that post here:

I love the new banners and badges they have this year.  So spiffy for the 10th Anniversary.  If you have not tried the A to Z before, I'd encourage you to give it a shot.  If you have joined in before but didn't do it last year, I hope you give it a try this year to celebrate the big 10!
