Must Be May - 2019 - Stream of Consciousness Saturday

Linda gives us the prompt of "strain" for this week and I wonder how she knew we were going through a bit of a "strain" in this household?  We had to put our kitty down on Tuesday after an unexplained injury (she's an indoor-outdoor cat) and everyone is missing her presence.  The $500+ vet bill is going to put a "strain" on our finances this month too. 

This is the second time we've had to let go of a cat and it doesn't get any easier.  My husband says no more pets but the kids (adult) are clamoring for a dog.  We'll see.  

 

Just Jot It January - 2019 #SoCS

Our prompt today for the Stream of Consciousness Saturday/Just Jot It January is “sap/sep/sip/sop/sup.”  

The point of the Stream of Consciousness is to let it flow without too much thought or correction so here goes:

I'm a sap for cutesy things so when my daughter called and asked if she should buy an owl Christmas decoration I said, "Sure."  Owls have become my new favorite, I don't know why.  I still love koala's but isn't this guy cute?

This owl and his buddy, an elephant, have been outside on our front porch as part of our display but guess what?  It's raining cats and dogs today and no one else is home so I had to get sopping wet bringing them inside.  Mr. Owl and Mr. Elephant are now sitting in the middle of the hallway getting warm and dry.  

Since my husband is out of town also, the cat (he calls her Puppy because she follows him around) and I are alone.  This is her waking me up in the morning with the insistence that is it time for her to have breakfast.  Normally this is SEP (which I just learned today means Somebody Else's Problem and I really like that so I'm sure I'm gonna be using it more!) but now it is apparently MP (my problem) so I had to get up and feed her.  

Since I was up, I got my coffee and had a few sips while I was reading everyone else's offerings for today.  There's some really good stuff out there.  

Finally, I got this set of stamps recently and I can't wait to start making some cards and things.  My son says, "Sup?" all the time so it reminds me of him.  Not that he looks like any of these guys really, just that he says the word - lol.     

I think they are hilarious.  I'll bet I could make SEP work with them too!

September Smiles - 365 Pictures

I am managing to keep up with my 365 pictures.  Here are a few since I last wrote about them:

Last night we had a thunderstorm complete with lightning.  According to the National Weather Service report from this morning, 1,200 cloud-to-ground strikes and 5,800 in-cloud strikes hit the Bay Area.  It was raining and yet the temperatures were in the high 70's.  I was outside trying to capture it but the best I could do was this:

This was so close that I just about dropped the camera.  The thunder clapped immediately after and the ground shook so hard that car alarms started going off.  It was amazing.  

Our little kitty sometimes comes into the craft room with me and crawls up on a pile of boxes in our closet.  Doesn't look too comfortable to me but I guess she is okay with it. 

Caught the full moon.

This happened in April when I googled Rod Stewart and found my blog post about him close to the top of the list.  This time it was my Nickelback post making it to number 3, right under their official page and their twitter page.  According to my daughter, this happens because Google knows it is me googling and it thinks that I want to see my own posts but that if someone else googles it, mine won't be there necessarily.  I prefer to think I am getting to be well known :)

I finished another project for my Etsy site.  This one is a Christmas House with a mini-album hidden inside.

I found the house at the St. Vincent de Paul second hand store during one of my trips to look for interesting items.  It was an ugly beige color so I painted it white and added some decorations.  The mini-album is made out of paper bags and has pockets and places for pictures and notes.  I'll be listing it soon on the Etsy site.  I am pretty happy with the way it turned out.  Wish I had take a picture of the house before I "restored" it.   

And best news today, I found out I got the job at Michaels!  I go on Sunday for orientation and to sign the official paperwork.  A new adventure begins! How about you?  Any thunder and lightning storms your way?  What do you think of the Christmas house?  See the full moon?  Love to hear about it.
