February Fling - 2019

Sadly, the shed could not be constructed yesterday because of the rain.  Hopefully Monday will be rain free and they can go ahead with it.

The prompt for today in Linda's Stream of Consciousness Saturday is "words that end in -ly"  My new studio is just about all that's on my consciousness these days.  Is that even a thing?  I know it's really exciting for me even though it's going to be a lot of work with the painting and moving everything out there.

I was also able to chime in today with the Love is in da Blog theme of songs from the 1940's with this one:

Have I Told You Lately That I Love You

Have I told you lately that I love you
Could I tell you once again somehow
Have I said with all my heart and soul how I adore you
Well darling, I'm telling you now.
My world would end without a mem'ry of you
I'm no good without you anyhow
Oh, have I told you lately that I love you
My darling, I'm telling you now.
Have I told you lately how I miss you
When the stars are shining in the sky
Have I told you why the nights are long when you're not with me
Well darling, I'm telling you now.
Have I told you lately when I'm sleeping
Every dream, I dream is you somehow
Have I told you that I'd like to share your love forever
Well, darling, I'm telling you now.
My world would end without a mem'ry of you
I'm no good without you anyhow
Oh, have I told you lately that I love you
Oh! darling, I'm telling you now.

The lyrics are slightly different on the version sung by Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters:

Have I told you lately that I love you?
Could I tell you once again, somehow?
Have I told with all my heart and soul how I adore you?
Well, darling, I'm telling you now

This heart would break in two if you refuse me
I'm no good without you anyhow
Dear, have I told you lately that I love you?
Well, darling, I'm telling you now

Have I told you lately that I miss you?
When the stars are shining in the sky
Have I told you why the nights are long when you're not with me?
Well, darling, I'm telling you now

This heart would break in two if you refuse me
I'm no good without you anyhow
Dear, have I told you lately that I love you
Well, darling, I'm telling you now

Have I told you lately when I'm sleeping?
Every dream I dream is you somehow
Have I told you who I'd like to share my love forever?
Well, darling, I'm telling you now

This heart would break in two if you refuse me
I'm no good without you anyhow
Dear, have I told you lately that I love you
Well, darling, I'm telling you now

This is the one that I remember best.  It brings back memories of my mom and dad.

Those lyrics are also different from the ones written by Van Morrison and sung by Rod Stewart:

Have I Told You Lately
Have I told you lately that I love you
Have I told you there's no one above you
Fill my heart with gladness
Take away my sadness
Ease my troubles, that's what you do
Oh the morning sun in all its glory
Greets the day with hope and comfort too
And you fill my life with laughter
You can make it better
Ease my troubles that's what you do
There's a love that's divine
And it's yours and it's mine
Like the sun
At the end of the day
We should give thanks and pray to the One
Have I told you lately that I love you
Have I told you there's no one above you
Fill my heart with gladness
Take away my sadness
Ease my troubles, that's what you do
There's a love that's divine
And it's yours and it's mine
And it shines like the sun
At the end of the day we will give thanks and pray to the One
Have I told you lately that I love you
Have I told you there's no one above you
Fill my heart with gladness
Take away my sadness
Ease my troubles, that's what you do
Take away my sadness
Fill my life with gladness
Ease my troubles that's what you do
Fill my life with gladness
Take away my sadness
Ease my troubles that's what you do

I've seen Rod Stewart twice now.  He really puts on a good show.

Okay, that's it for my stream today.  I do have a relatively free weekend so I'm going to attempt to get some blog posts drafted and start working on some other things I've been putting off lately because of my extra work.  I know you've all been missing me terribly!  How you been doing?

February Fling - 2019

Day 2 of Love Is In Da Blog is your most hated love song.  This one is easier.  I liked the movie The Bodyguard but I affirm this song drives me crazy.

I Will Always Love You
If I
Should stay
I would only be in your way
So I'll go
But I know
I'll think of you every step of
the way
And I...
Will always
Love you, oohh
Will always
Love you
You
My darling you
Mmm-mm
Bittersweet
Memories
That is all I'm taking with me
So good-bye
Please don't cry
We both know I'm not what you
You need
And I...
Will always love you
I...
Will always love you
You, ooh
[Instrumental / Sax solo]
I hope
life treats you kind
And I hope
you have all you've dreamed of
And I wish you joy
and happiness
But above all this
I wish you love
And I...
Will always love you
I...
Will always love you
[Repeat]
I, I will always love
You...
You
Darling I love you
I'll always
I'll always
Love
You.
Oooh
Ooohhh

It is sad that Whitney Houston died so young and her daughter's story is even sadder.  I have one of Whitney's last songs, Million Dollar Bill, on my phone as the ringtone for my hubby.  Short and sweet today.  Trying to do some catch up in something other than typing...like laundry - LOL  Which love song drives you crazy?

February Fling - 2019

No, I'm not having an affair.  According to the dictionary, one of the definitions of the word fling when used as a noun is:

A short period of unrestrained pursuit of one's wishes or desires.

February is the shortest month so I figured that I could pursue my wishes and desires this month unrestrained.  (Well, as unrestrained as this introvert can get).

Used as a verb it means to throw, cast or hurl with violence.  I'm not really a violent person but I can fling these blog posts out there can't I?

We'll start with this:  Can you spot the differences?

Aside from me being in my craft room in the first one and in an office in the second of course.

How about here?

Yep! That's the concrete foundation.  Shed coming next week.  It's a process, but it's started!

As you do sometimes, I stumbled upon another challenge for the month of February.  This one is from Bee Writes and I found her through some comments on Linda's last #JusJoJan post.  The challenge is called "Love Is In Da Blog" and it looks like it is another musical one, which is fine by me.

Today's prompt is "My favorite love song."  This is a hard one because there are a lot of love songs I like, but I think my all time favorite is "Faithfully" by Journey.

Faithfully
Highway run
Into the midnight sun
Wheels go 'round and 'round
You're on my mind
Restless hearts
Sleep alone tonight
Sendin' all my love
Along the wire
They say that the road
Ain't no place to start a family
Right down the line
It's been you and me
And lovin' a music man
Ain't always what it's s'posed to be
Oh girl, you stand by me
I'm forever yours
Faithfully
Circus life
Under the big top world
We all need the clowns
To make us smile
Through space and time
Always another show
Then everything
Wondering where I am
Lost without you
And being apart ain't easy
On this love affair
Two strangers learn
To fall in love again
I get the joy
Of rediscovering you
Oh girl, you stand by me
I'm forever yours
Faithfully
Faithfully, I'm still yours
I'm forever yours, ever yours, faithfully

Of course, the story is that Jonathan Cain wrote this song for his wife and shortly thereafter they split up and we all know what happened to Steve Perry and Sherry but something about the song still gets to me.  There was a time in our young married life when my husband worked graveyard and I worked regular hours so we did go through some periods where we didn't see each other.  Lately, since he is retired and I work from home we're together 24/7 but being faithful to each other has always been very important.  In my mind it even has to do with being faithful to each other, not just because of distance away but also in the way we have changed over the past 34 years.  We are coming up on our 35th anniversary and I still feel toward him the same way I felt when we were first together, yet in some ways we are rediscovering each other now that the kids are grown and our lifestyle is changing.

So, there's the First Fling of February.  Hope it didn't hurt.  Play along with the #Loveisindablog too!
