March Matters – 2023

February went by in a blur. My mom-in-law is settled in her new place next door and it really is working out well. I go over twice a day at least to make sure she has taken her meds and do little things around the house for her. We’ve gone to the library 3 times and even took a stroll through the dollar store. That is way more than she was doing when she was in Oregon.

Now it’s time for me to prep for the A to Z Challenge in April. I have an idea of what I’d like to do this year but I’m not sure I’ll be able to pull it off. More research is required and I thought I was going to be able to get some pictures taken the other night but it turns out I was driving instead of my husband and we couldn’t quite coordinate the timing. I knew what I was looking for but by the time I was able to explain it to him so that he could take the picture/video, we had passed it – LOL. Any of you married folks out there know what I’m talking about? It was not easy to just go around the corner to take another try at it so I told him I’d plan the route more carefully and have him drive next time so I could hop out of the car to take the pictures and he could come back and get me. I better get my act together though because the theme reveal is on March 12!

I’m excited to be going to the Scrapbook Expo on Saturday. I didn’t go last year and the year before it didn’t happen because of COVID. Hoping I can get some good deals on necessary supplies but will probably come home with some extras too. I won’t have my niece there to help keep me away from the papers. I am a paper addict.

I will leave you with a couple of pictures I’ve taken recently. We have had some gorgeous skies and the other day was a hailstorm that was quite exciting. It’s the closest thing we get to snow around here. See my little miniature gnome garden in the background? I need to redo it as the wind has knocked it over a couple times and things have broken.

That’s all I’ve got for now. Hope everyone out there is doing okay.

  1. Hi, Janet!

I didn't notice that you had a new post until very late last night. I decided to get some sleep and arrive here fresh.

I am happy to learn that your mother-in-law is getting settled. You are amazingly devoted if you go over at least twice a day to perform a wellness check and help tidy up the place. I also applaud you for making sure she gets out of the house. Visits to the local library and the dollar store are splendid ideas.

Yessum, I know how it goes when one spouse is highly enthused and motivated about a certain project and the other is supportive but hesitant to jump through hoops assisting. I remember how you collected scenes around SF for your A to Z run last year or the year before. I think you were either alone and found places to park and good vantage points, or had Bill driving you. I am still recalling the incredible sight of those "love locks" on the GG Bridge, the “Painted Ladies" and all the other attractions around your area. You know that I will support your A to Z run again this year and I look forward to the theme reveal.

That's an amazing video showing ice pellets falling upon your deck! Those are lovely skyscapes, Janet. I hope your weather soon calms down so that you can enjoy walks with Benny, visits to the ballpark, outdoor concerts, etc. Summer has already set in here in Central Florida. We've had the air conditioning running day and night for the last few days. I'm already getting cabin fever, and there are 8 or 9 more months of heat and humidity to come! :)

Have a safe and happy weekend, dear friend Janet!

    1. Hi my friend! I want your warm sunshine! It is in the 40s and 50s here even when the sun does shine and that's too cold for me. However, I would not want to live in Florida. Your governor is nuts!

We went to breakfast with my mother-in-law this morning because she was craving eggs Benedict. I asked her if she was glad she made the move and she said she definitely was.

The hail reminds me of some of the craft jewels I use. Fortunately I haven't had to walk Benny during a downpour like that.

Have a terrific weekend dear Shady.

  2. I'm glad you've got your MIL settled in ok. My hubby would have needed step by step instructions on taking any photos and it probably would still have been a disaster lol.
Having said that I've no idea what I'm going to be doing for A-Z this year yet. We will also have guests staying during April so I really need to have posts prepared in advance. Currently I'm only blogging about once a week so I need to up my game!

    1. Definitely realized that it wasn't going to work the way I hoped. Now it's off to plan a better route so maybe I can get something decent enough to use. Good luck thinking of something to do for the A to Z. I love your stuff. Have a great weekend!
