Today is Sunday and that means it’s time for Song Lyric Sunday as hosted by Jim Adams, who gives us the prompt of Clear/Dark/Light.
As much as the times are in a state of constant upheaval right now, it is only logical that we’d have some unusual weather as well. The last few days have been extremely warm here in my part of California and the temperatures have been close to if not hitting 100 degrees. Friday night at 8:20 PM it was 79 degrees! That’s usually a midday high.
The sunset as seen from my front porch. Aren’t the colors gorgeous?
This morning we woke up to thunder and lightening. It went on for about 2 hours.
Followed by this sunrise out our back porch:
Almost looks like the sunset doesn’t it? So glad I got up to see this spectacle of nature.
So my song for #SLS today is “Dance Into The Light” by Phil Collins.
Dance Into the Light
In the faces smiling in the windows
You can come on out, come on open the doors
Brush away the tears of freedom
We have each other
We have one voice
Because the train is coming to carry you home
Come on and dance into the light
Everybody dance into the light
There’ll be no more chains to hold you
The future is yours – you hold the key
And there are no walls with freedom
We are one world
We have one voice
Because the train is coming to carry you home
Come on and dance into the light
Everybody dance into the light
Oh, the world’s in your hands, now use it
What’s past is past, don’t turn around
Brush away the cobwebs of freedom
You have each other
You have one voice
Because the train is coming to carry you home
Come on and dance into the light
Everybody dance into the light
Hope you all have a great rest of your weekend. Stay safe out there!

Hi, Janet!
ReplyDeleteOh my, dear friend, your temps are a lot higher than ours here in Central Florida! Nevertheless, Mrs. Shady is constantly moaning about the heat and humidity. We are sooooo over summer by this time of year and can't wait for those timid cool fronts to start making their way into our region. That won't be happening any time soon.
You snapped some spectacular pictures of the red sunset, the pre-dawn storms and the red sunrise! That spectacular lightning display reminds me of the 1972 hit by Chi Coltrane "Thunder And Lightning." Do you remember it?

That Phil Collins song is optimistic and inspiring. I enjoyed it and thank you for posting.
I hope you guys enjoy a cool down soon. Regardless I wish you and Benny a safe and happy week ahead, dear friend Janet!
Good evening friend Shady! Yes, I do remember the song by Chi Coltrane but only after I heard it. Thanks for sharing. I am glad that I was able to catch the lightning show this morning and that I was able to pick these photos out from the videos I took. It really was a spectacular show and went on from about 3 AM when the thunder started to about 6:30 AM when I got these shots. Interestingly, Benny didn't seem to mind either the lightning or the thunder and was outside in the backyard while all this was going on. Have a wonderful week yourself my buddy. Stay safe!
DeleteHi Janet - we're still in Winter here in Australia - it's been wet but still quite warm where I am - I don't think I could handle the freezing winters that a lot of other bloggers accept as normal. It won't be long before we're back into the heat and those stifling nights - maybe your post will remind me to enjoy snuggling under the covers while I still can!
ReplyDeleteI feel so lucky to live where I do because usually we don't get extremes of anything. On the other hand, I don't really notice the change of seasons much either. Guess there are good and not so good to anywhere. Thanks for stopping by to say hello, Leanne!
DeleteIf this heat keeps up in Los Angeles where I am we're going to have a hefty electric bill next time around. Last month's bill was one of the highest I've seen in my 23 years in our house and this past week I've been running the AC more than ever. I try not to turn it on, but sometimes just can't help doing so. And with the shutdowns and all we can't go places like a mall or somewhere cool. Guess we'll just have to try to get used to the heat.
ReplyDeleteYour sunsets look wonderful. Haven't seen any like that where we are, but I usually don't think to look at the sunsets that I'd see over the industrial park behind our house.

Tossing It Out
We have ceiling fans in all our rooms so most of the time we are just sitting right under them - lol. My husband got one of the water coolant fans because it affects him more than me. I am lucky to catch the sunset like this once in a while. Lately the smoke from all the fires has been really changing the color of the sun and sky a lot. Thanks for stopping by!
