2014 - 365 Jots

1/5/14 - Jot #5

"It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop."  Confucius

In this extremely fast-paced world we live in where everyone wants instant gratification, it is difficult to accept that some things take time.  I would love to wake up tomorrow morning and be 50 pounds thinner but I know that is not going to happen, especially if I am not eating the right foods, etc.

I would love to sell 10 more mini-albums or cards this week but I know if I don't make new cards or albums that is not going to happen.  If I keep my mind focused on these goals and make at least one small step toward each one, I should definitely be closer to reaching them by year's end.

Happy Sunday all.

Vision Cards

I decided to take Jamie Ridler's Vision Card Workshop and made my three vision cards for this year.

This first one is about getting healthy.  Eating right, focusing my attention on meal planning and making healthy choices.  I am having issues with my knee and will eventually need a knee replacement but I need to lose weight first.  It is a plan that will benefit the whole family.

I really want to focus attention on my crafting and trying to earn some additional income doing something that I love.  I know it is possible, I just need to take the initiative to get my stuff out there.

Last but not least is our house.  We have lived here for almost 18 years and it is in need of some definite TLC.  A new roof, absolutely need a paint job and a new fence in the backyard.  I love this house and I know that it can be made better with just a little attention.

So, there are my three vision cards.  I keep them in my daily planner so I can look at them often.  I believe in the power of positive thinking.  Thank you,  Jamie Ridler!  You can make your own vision cards with her guidance by checking out her website at

2014 - 365 Jots

Daily Decisions Determine Destiny.

It could be something as simple as deciding to drive a different way to work, try a new restaurant, shop a different store.  You never know who you may meet or what you will see that could trigger a change.

It may not even be a conscious decision on your part, more a reaction to something else.  A detour forces you to take a different route, you see a new billboard or sign, start listening to a new radio station, enter a contest, win concert tickets (true story).

It may not be your destiny that is affected.  You decide to donate a suit or dress to Salvation Army.  Someone down on their luck gets that suit or dress, applies for a job or an apartment and gets it.  Life changed.   Think about it.

2014 - 365 Jots

"I've decided to have a happy day and be grateful for the good things that have happened to me."  (Carole Joy)

Not sure who Carole Joy is yet but I liked this sentence.  The key, in my opinion, is the words "I've decided."  I am in control.

Hope you have a happy day too!

1/2/14 - Jot #2 - From my monthly calendar:  Believe that something wonderful is about to happen.

I can feel it starting to happen already.

The Word of the Year for me is courage.  It takes courage to live a life.  Any life.

2014 - Janet's 365 Jots

1/1/14 - What is a jot?
(verb) -Write something quickly.
(noun) - A small amount.

Why a jot?
I enjoyed doing the 365 pictures and wanted to challenge myself with another year-long project.
Because a jot shouldn't take a lot of time.
Because I can.
Hope you join along with me for my Jots here and on my Facebook page,
